Welcome back to our SHY Girl interview series to grow our community and highlight some really cool ppl for you!
I discovered Alden through her upcycled brand @campbellandkramer (environmental conscious california it-girl brand) and love her style and travels! I love her designs sourcing recycled unwanted materials, and adore her eye for aesthetic style and travels. She gives us a glimpse into her life and who she is and don’t forget to checkout her brand!
She has the best closet (I wanna steal everything), and has the effortless, california girl aura surrounding her lifestlye ! Thank you for being our next SHY girl Alden, it means a lot that you wrote something. I asked her below our five famous questions to pick her brain getting to know her. Read below what she wrote for her answers, and get some insight to who she is.
1. give us the 411 about you. who is alden kramer?
I’m just a girl that loves fashion, design, and the natural world. I co-founded Campbell&Kramer with my best friend from UCLA, and that’s been an avenue to channel a lot of things that are really important to me: fashion, sustainability, design, and business. I’ve also been working with an architecture startup for the past three years as I’m passionate about homebuilding. I spend my time in LA and Laguna. Outside of work I honestly love to just chill whether that looks like hiking, going to the beach, listening to music, getting coffee, or shopping.
2. where are three of your absolute favourite travels and why?
My favorite trip was last year to Italy. I visited some family in Avezzano, a rural suburb about an hour away from Rome. I’d go on morning walks with my mom where we’d pass a medieval castle, an old pagan temple and then end up at a ruined coliseum. The natural beauty, the lifestyle, the food and the drink was absolutely perfect.
Other than that, my favorite trips are to New York with Presley. It’s a perfect combo of business and play, and there’s nothing better than doing what I love with my best friend.
3. what’s the best advice that you’ve ever received?
I’m obsessed with Norma Kamali and I always think of her quote “the more you do the more you can do.” It’s a reminder that everything compounds. Make one small good decision and it compounds. Accomplish one small thing and it compounds.
4. what are some things you love but are shy about?
Kinda specific but I’m always shy going to a workout class alone for the first time. Because I have no friends there, don’t know the layout, and sometimes it’s hard to follow the instructor lol. So I end up doing things wrong and just looking around the room to figure out what I’m supposed to be doing.
5. if you could collab on a shy world limited edition drop piece, what would it be?
I’d want to create a capsule of really well executed upcycled pieces. Think vintage Levi’s with studs, oversized blazers with lace up detailing, reworked silk slips. That would be so fun!
love,
alden
