20 favourite shy world things that happened this year
Shy world shy world shy world shy world! I love this brand, I love this community, I love this world I’ve created and built. It all started with the little seed planted and watered during the pandemic five years ago. My mum and I were handmaking and selling made to order knitwear like special hats and tops. I had run it for 2020 to 2021 and learned so much and had so much fun. We ended up getting some pieces on the coolest gals ever like Kendall Jenner’s best friend, Lauren Perez or the Nudestix founder, Taylor Frankel. I truly learned everything from start to finish from designing the pieces to creating the website to brainstorming marketing campaigns to packing and shipping orders. Was a magical year and the start of something amazing but then I stopped cause lotta life happened, locked in concentrating on my career in HR and finally made the incredible move to Montreal. 2025 Shy World was reborn…
In our first year I could not be more ready and sure and experienced and knowledgeable. In 2020 I was a doe eyed baby who was extra naïve and new to everything. In 2025 I relaunched Shy World full confidence to commit and grow and idea into something tangible. I came in hot and it was an incredible awe inspiring year one filled with heartwarming wins. I love this brand with my whole heart after all it is my first born baby. I pour my blood, sweat and tears into creating it from scratch and carefully growing it. I’m living the Hannah Montana life, working my corporate big girl job in HR to fund my business and nurture this brand I believe. I want to thank everyone including all of my family and friends for supporting my dream and showing up and all the amazing local collaborators.
This is Shy World Year 1 in 2025 and my 20 favourite things that happened this year
1. I had the epiphany to relaunch Shy World in January of 2025 AND STICK WITH IT!!
2. I knew I was in the right city, in the right creative space, in the right mindset to grow this brand properly
3. I launched our website www.shyworld.ca bigger and better with my favourite features making my middle school tumblr me super proud.
4. I am obsessed with my own brand’s website because I’ve truly combined all my favourite features: Shop is like Stardoll where you browse our pieces, Story is like Blogger where you read our story, Inspo is like Tumblr where you scroll my brain and Explore is like Substack where you discover everything ~ city guides, dove loves, business features, cool interviews
5. I was so excited to start designing again but pieces I can scale ~ trendy, timeless, creative, playful
6. I curated my dream apartment turned into dream office because your space, surroundings truly impact your work
7. I decided to start with our inaugural Shy cap since I took inspo from camo being in again
8. I wanted to find my favourite local suppliers all done in Canada to support our economy
9. I found the coolest print and embroidery shop called Polyform to complete all my brand’s pieces
10. I also can’t believe I got to stock at my favourite vintage store Seconde in Montreal
11. I want to thank all the local businesses I discovered for doing sick interviews with us like Entremains in Paris or Mmmmagasin in Montreal
12. I can not believe I did our first collab which was insane Shy World x Dandy for our pancake slut tee with the best brunch restaurant
13. I wanted to stock in at least one special retail spot in Montreal the first year… soon it’ll be four <3
14. I wanted to do one collab with another business I truly admire (Dandy) which was so surreal… soon it’ll be two (stay tuned) So crazy how one day, you’re just eating the best pancakes at your favourite neighbourhood brunch spot in Old Mtl then the next day you’re designing a t-shirt with Michael the owner that’s sold at Dandy!!
15. I wanted to launch five one of a kind special unique pieces and so we did! Our Shy World cap, our Shy Mtl cap, our Shy World tote, our Matcha Slut tee and Pancake Slut tee!
16. I wanted so badly but had no expectations to do my first popup during year one and I can’t believe we did at Seconde with my special guests Jinjin matcha and Nastie Fleur.
17. I got to shoot our cap on my 10 year anniversary trip with my bestfriends in Aruba on the beach
18. I got to shoot our cap all around the world this year through all my travels ~ Vancouver, Aruba, Portugal, Nyc
19. Some of the coolest it-girls are sporting Shy World like Michelle Li in Nyc or Eva Meloche in Mtl
20. Finally, I am sososo excited for Shy World year 2 in 2026 because you’re not ready!!
