Shy World Book Club #2 ~ Lost Lambs by Madeline Cash

Hi guys,

One thing I am so so excited about this new year is simply reading more books. I consume an absurd amount of movies, shows and obviously music too so books need their spotlight. Simply starting out with two books a month so I got inspired to create a cute Shy World Book Club up on the site so our fellow readers can enjoy my recs.

I chose Lost Lambs by nyc author Madeline Cash and I can confidently say it’s my new favourite book. It was a huge hit in my book club as well all rated it a five stars. Madeline nails her debut novel with a fabulous story about a dysfunctional family in a small city. It’s filled with so much humour, warmth, satire, adventures and key word wholesomeness that fills your heart.

10 things I learned from this amazing book:

  1. I learned that being 28 and still unsure doesn’t mean I’m behind ~ it means I’m human. Everyone in this book is honestly winging it, just at different things and at different ages.

  2. I learned that family can feel like both the reason you are the way you are and the thing you’re still trying to untangle certain habits/behaviours from to better yourself more.

  3. I learned that the world is chaotic in ways that are honestly kind of funny once you stop expecting it to make proper sense.

  4. I learned that the gap between who I thought I’d be by now and who I actually am is not a failure, it is just reality.

  5. I learned that powerful people don’t look like villains, they look boring, confident, and very sure they’ll never face any consequences because of their wealth.

  6. I learned that humor is sometimes the only way to survive anxiety without letting it swallow you whole so choose to change perspective sometimes.

  7. I learned that women are allowed to be messy, contradictory, curious, and selfish without needing to explain themselves.

  8. I learned that the internet doesn’t fix loneliness, it just gives it more places to hide.

  9. I learned that I’m constantly inventing meaning as I go and despite making plans, life has its own.

  10. I learned that caring about people, about injustice, about small strange things still matters especially everyday

Love,

Dove
