I discovered Laurence through her work at @twentycompass (a beautiful montreal jewelry brand) and love her company! I’m obsessed with her business savvy, her unique jewelry designs, her city girl life, and she’s a true bali princess. She gives us a glimpse into her life and who she is and don’t forget to checkout her brand!
She lives in Montreal with her partner and her super adorable dog, designing and creating iconic pieces! Thank you for being our next SHY girl Laurence, truly feel so honoured that you wrote something. I asked her below our five famous questions to pick her brain getting to know her. Read below what she wrote for her answers, and get some insight to who she is.
1. give us the 411 about you. who is laurence bedard
Hi I’m Lau!! I founded my jewelry brand 10 years ago and have been loving jewelry for as long as I can remembember. I always made my own pieces growing up, going to the bead store was my favorite activity and I also loved going through my grandmother’s jewelry box to use some of her old pieces to create my own. In my free time, I love to cuddle with my dog, thrift, read, and spend time with my loved ones.
2. where are three of your absolute favourite travels and why?
My favorite place in the world is Bali, I’ve been a couple of times and it’s where I had the idea to launch Twenty Compass so it holds a very special place in my heart. I also loved visiting Mallorca and Greece and definitely want to go back to both!
3. what are three items (only material) essential for a desert island?
Hmm can I bring my dog?? I’d also bring my Kindle because I read a lot, and SPF because I’m obsessed with skincare.
4. what are some things you love but are shy about?
I’m not really shy about anything I love, but something a little cringe about me is that Mamma Mia is my favorite movie, and I pretty much know it by heart at this point.
5. if you could collab on a shy world limited edition drop piece, what would it be?
A Twenty Compass x Shy World piece of jewelry would be so cute!! My favorite pieces to design are earrings so that’s probably what I’d do :)
6. what are your top spots in mtl currently?
My favorite neighborhood in the city is Le Sud-Ouest. That’s where my office is located, and I’m excited to start renovating a little house in the area next week! I love walking along the Lachine Canal, grocery shopping at Atwater Market, grabbing coffee at September Café, having a glass of natural wine on the terrasse at Barbara, and having dinner at Stem, Vin Papillon, or Bar Otto (I couldn’t choose just one, there are too many great restaurants on Notre-Dame!!).
