SHY Girl ~ Spaces and Places Tasteful Curator Bianka
welcome back <3
i’ve been so busy creating and growing shy, i missed working on fun articles and interviews for my lil website. one of my favourite parts about this brand is growing the community and getting to collaborate with the coolest people. i love meeting other creatives around the world who inspire and motivate me with their work. and publishing these interviews to get to know them, learn some new things and highlight their accomplishments.
i found bianka’s page on instagram spaces and places and immediately fell in love because it combines all my favourites. a perfect aesthetic curation of her favourite spots (clever name spaces and places) from all of her travels. if you know me, one of my love languages is curating good travel spots and recommendations for friends and family. so spaces and places is definitely my cup of tea with bianka’s amazing taste and guides.
bianka’s interview:
1. give us the 411 about you! who is bianka?
Hi! I’m Bianka, an interior designer, gallery lover, and all-around art-obsessed girl based in NYC. I was raised between Honduras and Guatemala (hence my Spanglish!) and I’m a proud Gemini. I love exploring, roaming around, and discovering new spots and I feel so lucky to do that in a city that never sleeps. I’m super curious about design, especially how furniture pieces come to life and the stories behind them. Honestly, I find it so fascinating. Most weekends, you’ll catch me with a chai in hand, wandering through Chelsea galleries.
2. what’s spaces and places and what inspires you the most?
Spaces and Places is basically my personal diary where I share beautiful, well-designed, and inspiring spaces. It all started because my friends used to say I take way too many pictures and never post them (they weren’t wrong). So, I decided to give them a home and turn my obsession into something creative.
I’ve always had an eye for curation and wanted to share my love for design with others. I also noticed people sometimes feel intimidated by galleries like they’re not “meant” to walk in and I wanted to change that. Galleries are actually super accessible and full of hidden gems that often beat museums. When I travel, I go full-on Type A planner mode, so I also share my curated travel guides. It’s all about making art and design feel approachable and inspiring for everyone.
3. where are three of your absolute favourite travels and why?
I just got back from Copenhagen and wow! It is my favorite city I’ve traveled to, it’s just pure taste. Every corner feels intentional, and I’m completely obsessed with Danish design. Paris will always have my heart for its food and history, and London is right up there too. The curation, energy, and vibe of every space in London just feel so special. Each of these cities has its own magic that keeps me inspired!
4. what’s the best advice that you ever received from someone?
“If you follow your passion, it will lead to your purpose.” I seriously live by this. When you truly follow what you love, it naturally guides you toward where you’re meant to be. There’s so much power in leaning into what lights you up!
5. what are some things you love but are shy about?
I love giving my two cents on anything that really matters to me, but I’m definitely shy about my Spotify playlists. There’s something super personal about sharing your music taste, it’s like letting someone read your diary.
So yeah, I’m lowkey terrified of being on aux.
6. what are 3 essentials for travel and your best tips?
Love this question! I always carry a portable charger (because my phone battery doesn’t stand a chance with all the photos I take). A small notebook or journal, because I love jotting down little notes, places I visit, and random thoughts to look back on and a good eye mask, because somehow it helps me sleep like a baby on flights.
I usually plan my trips around design and food, so I use The Corner app. it’s the best for creating curated guides, finding cool spots by area, and reading real reviews from real people. I’m obsessed with it (and the founders are amazing too).
love,
bianka
